The story
Beyond the Map is a cinematic promotional film created for the Tourist Board of the Island of Krk. Conceived as a short narrative piece rather than a conventional tourism ad, it tells the story of discovery, emotion, and connection inviting viewers to experience Krk as something far more than a destination on a map.
We wanted to move beyond promotion and reach emotion.
Beyond the Map was conceived as a response to the noise, the endless stream of visuals that show places but rarely say anything true about them.
Our vision was to craft a film that restores meaning to travel storytelling. To portray Krk not through spectacle, but through memory, intimacy, and presence.
Because we believe a destination isn’t discovered through maps, it’s felt through stories that stay with you.
Filmed across diverse island locations, from ancient villages and vineyards to hidden beaches and mountain trails, the production aimed to showcase the island’s authentic textures and light. The narrative scenes were shot in controlled interior environments, emphasizing intimacy and atmosphere, while outdoor sequences were captured in natural light, emphasizing realism and beauty.
The music was composed exclusively for Beyond the Map, not as a soundtrack, but as part of the film’s emotional architecture.
The entire score was created directly to picture, allowing the image itself to guide the composer, every frame evoking an emotional response, a gesture, a note.
Rather than following the rhythm of editing, the music follows the rhythm of memory, shifting between intimacy and openness, silence and discovery.
